| WHO WE ARE:-
The V-FWB is one of the five branches comprising the BCCIR of the FSNA.
At 3800+ members, the branch serves federal retirees in the Greater Victoria area. The northern boundry between the Victoria and Sidney branches runs
approximately on an east-west line starting at Royal Oak drive and bisecting the Sannich Penninsula.
The name “Victoria-Fred Whitehouse” commemorates the acknowledged founder of FSNA, Mr. Fred Whitehouse, who was a resident of Victoria. Mr.
Whitehouse, then president of the Civil Service Federation, acted as the guiding hand in establishing the FSNA and was elected the first National Secretary-Treasurer in
1963.

MISSION STATEMENT OF THE FSNA:-
- To Advocate measures beneficial to annuitants and potential annuitants of the PSC, CAF and RCMP and other Federal Agencies or bodies
deemed appropriate by the National Board of Directors;
- To Oppose measures inimical to annuitants and potential annuitants;
- To Promote the general welfare of those mentioned above;
- To Inform and assist annuitants and potential annuaitants mentioned above with regard to their rights as annuitants; and
- To Cooperate with other organizations in furtherance of mutual objectives.

OUR PURPOSE:-
as a Branch of the FSNA is to:-
- Communicate with local members through monthly meetings, newsletter reports, special information meetings, training sessions, the
BCCIR website and periodic E-mail bulletins;
- Respond to members who have questions about retirement pensions and related benefits such as Superannuation, the Canada Pension Plan,
Old Age Security, the Public Service Health Care Plan, the Pensioners Dental Services Plan, the FSNA long Term Disability Plan, MEDOC travel insurance and Johnson Inc. home
insurance;
- Assist members and the families of members who experience the loss of a loved one, including help in advising necessary authorities
and providing information on survivor benefits;
- Support facilities and charities which provide services to seniors through the periodic donation of financial grants;
- Submit resolutions to the Region for furtherance to the National Convention;
- Administer the affairs of the Branch;
- Participate in local provincial advocacy, dealing with issues of importance to superannuates and seniors in our community; and
- Fulfill our responsibilities under FSNA By-Laws.

MEETING AND CONTACT INFORMATION:-
General meetings are held at the Silver Threads Centre , 1728 Douglas St (across from the Old Hudson's Bay building) in downtown Victoria. Meetings are
conducted at 1:30PM on the second Tuesday of each month, except for a summer break in July and August. Meetings feature keynote speakers talking on subjects of particular
interest to pensioners.
Every year a Spring Luncheon is held at a local restaurant on the date of the regular May meeting (second Tuesday) and in December, the branch has its
annual Christmas party on the second Tuesday.
