Note: June meeting date has been changed from the 9th to the 16th.
The Vancouver Island North Branch (VINB) is one of the five branches comprising the British Columbia Coastal and Islands Region (BCCIR) of the National Association of Federal Retirees (NAFR).
The Branch covers Northern Vancouver Island from Parksville to Port Hardy. The majority of our members live in the Comox Valley. However, we have a good sized group residing in the Campbell River area and points further north, such as Sayward, Alert Bay, Gold River, Port Alice, Port Hardy, Thasis, and Sointula. We also have members living on Denman and Hornby Islands, in Qualicum Beach, Powell River, Edmonton, North Saanich, Fort St. John and New Zealand.
As of March 2010 our branch consists of 2039 members including spouses/partners.
Mission Statement
- To Advocate measures beneficial to retirees and potential retirees of the PSC, CAF and RCMP and other Federal Agencies or bodies deemed appropriate by the National Board of Directors;
- To Oppose measures inimical to retirees and potential retirees;
- To Promote the general welfare of those mentioned above;
- To Inform and Assist retirees and potential retirees mentioned above with regard to their rights as annuitants; and
- To Cooperate with other organizations in furtherance of mutual objectives.
Our Purpose
- Communicate with our members through periodic meetings and newsletters;
- Recruit new members;
- Submit resolutions to the Region for furtherance to the National Convention;
- Administer the affairs of the Branch;
- Participate in local provincial advocacy, dealing with issues of importance to superannuates and seniors in our community; and
- Fulfill our responsibilities under NAFR By-Laws.
