  Claude Edwards 1916 - 2010, former National Past President

It was with profound sadness that we learned that former national president Claude Edwards passed away yesterday morning, at age 94, while in hospital. A memorial service will be held in Ottawa, but not before July to enable Claude’s grandson, who is in Istanbul, to attend. Ralph Wilson, a member of FSNA since 1991,
died at age 103 yrs.

WILSON, Ralph Cook. Ralph passed away peacefully at Dufferin Place Nursing Home on Sunday, May 2, 2010 at the age of 103 years. Born in Broughton Moor, Maryport, Cockermouth, County of Cumberland, England on November 17th, 1906. Predeceased by his wife Jean in 2002. Leaves his children Bob (Sue), daughter MaryEllen, grandchildren Mark (Jodi), Jan (Scott), Carli-Jean (Erik), Jeff (Sarah) and 8 great grandchildren, numerous nephews and nieces.
   Ralph immigrated to Nanaimo in 1924 as a 17 year old. He worked in the Nanaimo Mines from 1924 to 1946. Also in that time he did some Commercial fishing and one year in the Peace River. In 1946 he went to work at the Pacific Biological Station, working on stream salmon and retired in 1971. He was a lifetime member of Nanaimo Fish & Game; 80 year member of the Odd Fellow Lodge and a member of Bowen Park Lawn Bowling.
   A Special Thank You to the Dufferin Place Cedar and Arbutus wings for your wonderful care. Funeral services were held Friday, May 7, 2010 at 10:00am at the First Memorial on Bowen Road, Nanaimo. Reception follows at site. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations may be made to Nanaimo & District Fish & Game Protective Association for Land Acquisition Fundraising support or charity of your choice.
